Midžor SkyTrail 19km June 4th, 2016
Trail - description & important facts

SkyTrail on Stara Planina is more than 19km long with 1,400 meters of ascent and 700 meters of descent. It starts at 08:00 sharp in the village of Crni vrh at 800masl. The trail is marked by regular hiking signs, ribbons and guideposts. There are two control points, one at Vučije jame (9.5km of the race) and the other at Midžor, just below the old watchtower (12km of the race). The only point with water is Midžor, so make sure that you carry water with you (fuel belt).

At 7.5km by the old watchtower, you have to pay attention and follow the markings and guideposts. The path takes a detour to the left. From there on, there are 2km of juniper to the first checkpoint. The highest point of the track is Midžor at 2,169masl, which is also the time gate – whoever does not reach this point by 11:30 will not get further placing nor water.

Required equipment: survival blanket and whistle! The equipment will be checked for this race and if something is missing - "extra minutes" will be calculated for this distance. Medical check-up is not required for the participants in the 19km race.

All competitors must have a verified card. The finish of the race is at the camp at Babin Zub (Markove livade), where other races start. Right next to it is the base of the race (race office, Plaža restaurant), so you can ask the organizers to take you to the Šum accommodation in the village of Crni vrh. You can pick up your starting package at Plaža restaurant on Friday from 18:00 to 23:00 and also return your bib number there immediately after the race when you will get a lunch voucher and your deposit back.

* All the competitors who will run this distance should take a good look at accommodation description of the mountain lodge Šum.

Accommodations

Camp
The famous saddle at ski resort between Babin Zub and Žarkova čuka, the so-called "Markova livada" at the output level of Konjarnik ski lift, next to the coffee restaurant "Plaža". It is located at 800 meters from the mountain lodge Babin Zub, near the pine forest with a view overlooking the whole area. No asphalt, no crowds, no noise, the camp is located at the altitude of 1,550masl. You can leave your car at the parking lot, at the end of the asphalt road; the access to the camp is not designed for passanger cars and parking is not allowed on the path itself. You can find a source of drinking water halfway. You can use the toilet and electricity from the cafe; the start/finish point of all races will be here (except for 19km race). In a word, this is the center of everything and we strongly recommend it to all the participants who like camping. The camp is in range of all mobile operators, and 3G network can be accessed as well. We recommend warm clothes, because it can be very fresh at night in June at this altitude.
